Capt Malik is one of the most respected figures in India's fast-growing aviation industry. In the 40 years since he first joined the prestigious Delhi Flying Club he has held a number of distinguished roles, won awards, amassed more than 2,000 flying hours and risen to the very top of his profession.
Born on 22nd November 1949, Capt. Malik started training to become a pilot in 1966 at the Delhi Flying Club. There he gained his Commercial Pilots License (CPL) for fixed wing aircraft before undertaking advance airport management training with IAAI.
Early on in his career he independently managed various international airports including Amritsar in 1979, Bombay airport in 1980 and Delhi airport in 1981. In his executive role at Delhi airport he managed more than 250 employees at different levels.
More than 50 pilots who are now flying for various domestic and International Airlines were trained by Capt Malik.
In 1973, Capt Malik joined the Department of Civil Aviation in the influential role of Aerodrome Officer. During his time there he washonoured with prestigious awards for the work he did both in air traffic and airport management. As the aviation market rapidly expanded, he played a key role liaising with various foreign airlines operating their services via Delhi and other agencies.
Capt.Malik continued to excel in various positions and in 1998 was rewarded with the position of advisor to the minister of civil aviation. He held the post until 2004. It was during this period that various charter companies and new airlines started emerging in India.
